- Locate the picture that you want to use for the folder icon.
- Double-click on the picture to open it in the Preview app.
- Press the “Command” and “A” keys to select the picture.
- Click on the “Edit” tab on the top menu bar.
- Choose “Copy” from the drop-down menu.
- Note: You can also press the “Command” and “C” keys at the same type to copy the image.
- Locate the folder that you want to customize.
- Right-click on the folder and choose “Get Info” from the drop-down menu. This will open a new window.
- Select the icon in the upper-left corner of the window.
- Go to the “Edit” tab on the menu bar.
- Choose “Paste.”
- Select the red traffic light in the upper-left corner to exit the window.
- Find out the folder that you wish to restore.
- Make right click on your located folder and select the <Get Info> option from elevated drop down menu.
- Next you have to click on the folder icon at the top right corner of same window.
- Go to <Edit> tab on the menu bar and then select the <Cut> option from drop down menu.
- Now you folder will automatically revert to its default icon, like as blue color folder.
