It’s a very old saying and one that we will all have heard of countless times – “use it or lose it”. But there’s no truer or wiser words spoken and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Of course we all want to live long, happy and healthy lives and it is true that in general people are living longer than ever - yeah good news! But we do have to take responsibility for our own bodies and lifestyle – its not down to anyone else except ourselves. Its never to early or too late to lead the best healthy life we possibly can, and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. There are loads of things we can do and having chiropractic treatment is just one of them.
Chiropractors are specialists in muscle, joint or trapped nerve type problems and their aim is to get to the root of the problem and set you on your journey to better health and wellbeing. They are also able to give lots of advice on specific exercises that would be good for you. Look these guys up – they’re greatwww.eastbourne-chiropractor-near-me.com
Modern technology is great – or is it? We can now have a remote, an app or clever device that literally can do anything for us, from doing the hoovering to closing the curtains, to washing and drying our clothes all in one cycle to name just a few. When I was a youngster we had to get up off the couch to change the television channels and it was a revolution when you got a television with a remote control that could do it for you! However, this has made our lives “lazier” or more sedentary. So, what is all this lack of movement doing for us? Well the muscles and joints in our bodies will lose their full function and this in turn will lead to stiffness if not frequently used. Often pain and discomfort goes hand in hand with the lack of mobility too.

It goes without saying that your lifestyle will dictate certain areas of your life but try to increase the amount of movement in your life. Some very simple and easy ways to do this is;
- Use the stairs instead of taking the lift
- Get off the bus one stop earlier than you normally would and walk part of your journey
- Stand up when the television ad breaks come on and jog on the spot for those few minutes
- Don’t make unnecessary journeys in the car if you can walk – it’s better for the environment too
- You may not fancy joining a gym but try taking up an activity such as swimming, cycling or brisk walking that pushes your heart rate up just a little more than it would normally be.
I tried something completely different and that was a beach clean. I am lucky enough to live on the coast and periodically people arrange a beach clean and you just spend several hours picking up discarded litter on the beach. This is a great way to get out in the fresh air, keep moving and help the environment at the same time. If you don’t live near the sea maybe see if there are any parks etc near you that do the same thing.Its all good for you honest!
